Gibsons is situated in the southwest portion of Howe Sound approximately 27km (17 miles) west of Vancouver, on the Sunshine Coast. The Town, with an area of 963 acres, is bounded by Strait of Georgia on the south and lies at the foot of Mount Elphinstone, part of the Coast Mountain Range.

Gibsons can be reached by taking the Trans-Canada Highway to Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver, then boarding the BC Ferry to Langdale for a 45 minute ride. Once on the Sunshine Coast side you follow Hwy. 101 for five km. (3 miles) through settlements of Hopkins Landing and Granthams Landing to Gibsons.

From Powell River Gibsons can be reached by taking the ferry from Saltery Bay to Earl's Cove which joins with Hwy. 101, then continues south to Gibsons. The entire coast is an 88 km trip through the communities of Pender Harbour, Halfmoon Bay, Sechelt, Roberts Creek and Gibsons.
